My name is Guy Clapperton and I’ve been a journalist since 1989 – you’re welcome to contact me direct by clicking here. I am comfortable with interviewing in several media – I can help you on video as in the clip above, on audio or in writing.
I am a senior writer of over two decades’ standing, and am regularly in the national press in the UK. When you hire me you get:
- Copy to length and deadline
- Access to my extensive experience as a freelancer for the National press including the Guardian, Times, Independent, Financial Times and Sunday Telegraph
- Organisational skills when engaged as an editor
My beginnings were a while ago. I joined the staff of computer trade newspaper MicroScope in 1989, went freelance in 1993 and have never seriously looked back.
I am working as the launch editor of New Statesman Tech, the magazine’s hub for technology professionals and a new online publication in its own right. I also edit Professional Outsourcing Magazine, a post I took up in early 2014. I’ve contributed to the national press including Guardian, Times, Telegraph, Independent, Financial Times, Radio Times and many other outlets.
I write about social media as well as business and am often asked to commentate on this on TV and radio.
New Statesman: Edited sponsored supplements on Gibraltar in late 2013 – here is a link to a PDF of the first, on e-gaming. Since March 2015 I have been editor of the New Statesman’s Gibraltar hub on its website. Here is a link to a recent supplement in which I commissioned the Chancellor of the Exchequer for an article.
The Guardian: Editorial associate, columnist and podcaster for the newspaper’s ‘Business Sense’ section during the first decade of the century. More recently I’ve been covering tech and small business – helpfully the Guardian has a page (or several) of my stuff here.
Professional Outsourcing Magazine: Editor since January 2014 of this quarterly professional publication aimed at the outsourcing community. Also hosting events connected with the title, presenting prizes at events on our behalf, editing supplements on different countries as outsourcing destinations, acting as panel member on outsourcing award schemes.
Computer Business Review: Chief contributor and “consulting editor” on the New Style of IT hub from September 2014 to the same month in 2015 – not bad from an original agreement for three months’ work.
The Financial Times: Contributor to the Inside Track section; later contributor to the Business Life section.
Also contributor to the Times, Sunday Times, Mirror, Radio Times, Esquire and numerous other periodicals.
